The golden mosaic

"But why didn't you keep them!?"

For many years, in some rooms of our hotel, unknowing guests have used showers tiled with a pink mosaic, containing gold leaves.
It was the mosaic donated by Anita Ekberg to Ezio Rech when, in St. Moritz, he tiled her bathroom in the new villa under construction.

The mosaic was removed during the last renovation of the bathrooms because, although particular, it belonged to an era whose tastes were very different from today.
When we tell this story and show the fragment of mosaic as if it were an archaeological find, guests ask us why we had not saved them, well, we remember them as if it were yesterday, knowing their history everything has a more poetic flavor but, we assure you that nowadays, seeing them in their entirety, it would be very difficult to appreciate them.

We have kept a fragment of that mosaic, in memory of what was, of when in our house unaware customers, showered on gold tiles.
